2 FebRonan’s safe haven …
Please meet our newest treasure, Ronan.
He will be 5 months old in just a few days time, but looking at his size you would think he is only weeks old. He is tiny, wearing aged 0-3 months clothes, severely malnourished and very fragile. He has spent some time in hospital before coming to us and his little body is covered in marks from injections and numerous medical investigations. There are lots of uncertainties at the moment for Ronan, but one thing we can be certain of is that he will be loved and cherished by all who care for him.
Over the next few days and weeks, we will be putting together a plan for Ronan; establishing what his needs are and providing loving care for him. We have already inserted a feeding tube as his little body does not have the energy for taking full feeds by a bottle right now. Our immediate priorities are for close observation, good nutrition, plenty of rest and lots of cuddles!
Although it is too early to predict, we are hopeful that with good quality, loving care, Ronan will begin to thrive. We have learned in the Butterfly Home to never give up hope, so we are all hoping together for this little one. Please join us in hope and keep Ronan and our dedicated staff in your thoughts over the next few days and weeks.
We are thankful to be there for Ronan when he needs us and to be a ‘safe haven’ for him and so many children like Ronan. Sadly, we cannot be a safe haven for all of the children who need us, but through our new education and awareness programmes we hope to continue to reach as many children as possible who need children’s palliative care. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to find out how you can partner with us and watch this space to see Ronan’s progress.
