13 NovWhat adoption means to me?
As part of National Adoption Month we are catching up with our families to find our what adoption means to them. This week we caught up with Michael and Robert’s mama to find out what adoption means to her!
Adoption means love, family, commitment, hope, happiness, faith, patience, and strength. It means respecting birth families for their selfless and difficult decisions. It means understanding and showing compassion during grief and loss. It means relying on others and building trust. It means providing unconditional love and support. It means opening your heart and then feeling complete and total love and happiness.
It means understanding your child has a history and culture that needs to be respected and embraced. It means one of the best ways a family is formed. It means the absolute greatest and most precious gift to give and to receive.
Choosing adoption was the best decision we ever made. Adopting our sons has given us so much more than we could ever give them. Our sons have brought us joy, laughter, happiness, and meaning to our lives. We are honored and blessed to be their parents and we feel fortunate to be a part of their journey.
We are so thankful for the wonderful life these boys have and for the perfect family they call their own.
