8 Apr10 years of the Butterfly Home
Today is a very special day for us. It is the 10 year anniversary of opening our first Butterfly Home in ChangSha. Although the home remains on ‘lockdown’ our staff and children are having low-key celebrations today. When life gets back to ‘normal’ we will be hosting bigger celebrations in China and we will share these with you in time.
On the 8th April in 2010, the Butterfly Home opened and we welcomed three darling girls, Eve, Isobel and Angel. Each of these beautiful girls taught us numerous lessons and we were privileged to care for them. Eve and Angel are now adopted and living incredible lives with their forever families. Darling Isobel passed away in her loving ayis arms, after two wonderful years spent in our home.
We have cared for over 200 children in our little Butterfly Home. We have had many ups and downs over the last 10 years and know many challenges still lie ahead. However, we have learned so much and achieved a reputation for high standards of care putting us in a leading position to grow children’s palliative care in China at a national level, reaching many more children and their families. The future is bright and we are excited about what lies ahead.
Thank you all for the continuous support along this journey. We would not be where we are without you all.
