Right now in the Butterfly Home, our ayis, nurses and staff are working in an unprecedented situation. As the COVID-19 crisis deepens across the globe, the team in the Butterfly Home is working harder than ever to provide the same loving care to our children, who need it most. This crisis is beyond anything we have faced before, and beyond anything we could ever have imagined.
We continue to work around the clock to provide loving care to our Butterflies and whilst the children remain happy and free from infection, the harsh reality of COVID-19 and the wider impact is finally hitting home. Understandably, financial support has rapidly declined from all corners of the globe. However, as a result we are now facing real difficulties covering the basic running costs of the Home.
Right now, we can continue until Christmas, after which the reality is unthinkable.
That is why we are coming together – while we stay apart – to ask for support at this challenging time. Normally at this time of year we appeal for toys, sensory aids and warm, winter clothes for the children.
This year, our needs are very different. Above the need for sensory toys, new warm clothes, and holiday gifts, the need to keep our Butterfly family together has become our primary concern.
We know that there is great uncertainty for everyone at the moment. And, like many organizations, we are adjusting to a changing world while we also plan for the future. But, we cannot walk away from these children in their hour of need. We need your support to keep our Butterfly family together in the place they call home. We do not know what the long term implications are going to be as a result of the challenges associated with COVID-19, but we want to ensure we have done everything we possibly can to keep our family together.
Thanks to our donors and supporters, we have achieved so much. Together we opened the Butterfly Homes in Changsha and Nanjing, purchased life-saving medical equipment and medication, assured that dozens of children have received the surgeries, wheelchairs, and special care they desperately needed.
The children need us now more than ever. We need your support now more than ever. Together we can give the gift of love, care and hope whilst continuing to make a real difference in the lives of our Butterflies.
Will you help us?
