5 JunNew faces

We are excited to introduce you to three new volunteers, who have joined our international team recently: Katie, Sarah & Caity. This week is National Volunteer Week in the UK and we are so grateful that these wonderful ladies have joined our team.

For those of you who have followed along with us for some time, you will notice we recently said goodbye to Sarah and already have an existing Katie as part of our international volunteer team! So, we feel an extra special connection with these volunteers already.

Katie is a neonatal nurse practitioner in the U.S. She is a mom to three little boys, one of whom joined their family through adoption from China. She has a passion for children, honoring their story, and advocating for the medically fragile. As an adoptive mom herself, she has experienced the rollercoaster of unknowns but also the sacred gift of empowerment through education, saying that “education is the gift that we can offer others. The importance of advocacy could be the key element in treasuring a child’s story. The awareness of care, whether well-care of palliative care may be the one most honorable thing we can do to treasure the life of a child.” Katie will be keeping our instagram page up to date and sharing our latest news there. You can follow our instagram account here.

Sarah will be keeping our twitter page up to date and sharing our latest news there. You can follow our twitter account by clicking this link. Sarah shares her thoughts here, about joining our team: “Hi, I’m Sarah and I am a rising junior at Harvard studying bioengineering. I grew up in Toronto and my mother adopted me and my sister from China when we were young. I was introduced to Butterfly Children’s Hospices years ago through a family friend. I became interested in the organization because it is where my past (as an adoptee from China) and my future (hopefully as a doctor) collide. I can’t wait to start and am excited to contribute to the BCH team!”

Caity will be sharing our news and children’s stories on our Facebook page. Here is what she has to say about joining our team: “Hello everyone! My name is Caity and I have 3 beautiful boys. My oldest being blessed with Down syndrome I have always had a heart for children with special needs. Along with that, a passion for advocating for the children who need to be seen. This is why I am so grateful I will be joining the Butterfly Children Hospice team.” You can follow our Facebook page here.

We could not do the work we do without volunteer input. We are excited to see our team growing and are thankful that Katie, Sarah and Caity have chosen to volunteer with us.
